Research in Urbanism & Placemaking focuses on the design and development of human-centered spaces that foster community, sustainability, and cultural identity. This area of study explores how urban environments can be structured to enhance quality of life, promote social interaction, and support economic and environmental resilience. By integrating principles of traditional urbanism with modern needs, such research addresses challenges like rapid urbanization, climate change, and social inequality. It emphasizes the importance of creating walkable, mixed-use neighborhoods that encourage a sense of place and belonging. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, research in this field aims to shape cities that are not only functional and efficient but also vibrant, inclusive, and enduring.
