Mughal Tombs Illustrated

Author: School of Architecture

The Wall Street Journal’s India RealTime recently interviewed Prof. Krupali Krusche on her work studying the country’s Mughal tombs. Prof. Krusche was also featured at “Today@ND” where she said her research is “to understand how the Mughal tombs [including the Taj Mahal] were built and what kinds of techniques were utilized in constructing them.

Under the leadership of Prof. Krusche, the School launched the Digital Historical Architectural Research and Material Analysis (DHARMA) team in 2007, with the objective of documenting World Heritage Sites. “My research is based on understanding and documenting World Heritage Sites. It isn’t documentation on how they look or how they are measured, but to understand how they were built and what kind of techniques were utilized in constructing them,” Krusche says.
