Housing and Community Regeneration Initiative Summit: The 100 Mile Coalition

-

Location: Walsh Family Hall of Architecture

After three years and six Dean's Charrettes within northern Indiana and southwest Michigan, the School of Architecture's Housing and Community Regeneration Initiative will host its first annual summit to launch its new '100-Mile Coalition.' The success of the Initiative's Dean's Charrettes has prompted the School to bring together a group of cities and nonprofits within a 100-mile radius of Notre Dame that are working to address issues relating to housing shortages, disinvested communities, failed infrastructure, stagnant economic growth, and talent/workforce retention. Through shared experiences, emerging research opportunities, and implementation strategies, the summit opened the door for community leaders to learn from each other as they lead the nation in addressing these critical issues of our time. Cities in attendance included South Bend, Mishawaka, Elkhart, La Porte, Gary, and Kalamazoo.
