Jose Cornelio da Silva has been a practicing architect since 1983 and also an academic, having taught in the past in several european and american, universities. JCS was the founder and first Director of the New School of Architecture at Viseu, Portugal.

He was awarded the IFRAA-International Forum on Religion Art and Architecture for Excellence in Design, in 1992 in Chicago and in 1995 the Philippe Rothier Foundation in Belgium.

JCS was Knighted by HRH The Duke of Braganza in 2012 with the Order of The Immaculate Conception of Vila Vicosa.
