Jason Arnold is a licensed architect with 25+ years of interdisciplinary design and real estate experience.

Jason joined the University of Notre Dame in 2019 and served as the inaugural Managing Director of the Fitzgerald Institute for Real Estate (FIRE), where he led the development of Notre Dame’s first-ever program for commercial real estate focused on research, teaching, and industry engagement while providing a distinctive voice in promoting human flourishing and the common good. In 2023, Jason transitioned to a faculty position in the School of Architecture, where he teaches both architectural studio and real estate development courses and leads initiatives focused on coordinating and developing teaching programs and research activities at the intersection of architecture and real estate. Jason serves as the primary liaison between the School of Architecture and FIRE and he helps build a network of alumni and industry practitioners in real estate development, design, and construction.

Before joining Notre Dame, Jason served as the Director of Architecture at the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO). In this role, Jason led a large staff of architects and engineers and was responsible for over $3 billion annually in new embassy and consulate design and construction projects at over 275 locations worldwide. He was also a project manager for the new U.S. Embassy Complex project in Mexico City, Mexico, designed via a joint venture with Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects and Davis Brody Bond. The new embassy is being constructed on an 8.5-acre site in the Nuevo Polanco district of Mexico City and will be among the largest U.S. embassy complexes in the world at 1,000,000 sf, providing a secure, modern, and environmentally sustainable platform for U.S. diplomacy.

Jason has worked in the private sector as an architect and he also served 11 years on active duty in the U.S. Navy, both as a Civil Engineer Corps Officer and a Surface Warfare Officer, separating from service as a Lieutenant Commander in 2008.

Jason earned a Master in Real Estate Finance from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Notre Dame. Jason is a licensed architect in Washington, DC and a LEED Accredited Professional, and is an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), formerly serving on the AIA|DC Board of Directors as the Director of Public Architects.
