A graduate of Harvard University’s School of Design, Prof. Buccellato is a partner of Buccellato Design, LLC, and is engaged in practice and practice-based research focused on advancing the design and execution of a more sustainable built environment.

Prof. Buccellato's research is focused on the development of methods, tools, and practices to advance the design and execution of truly sustainable buildings with particular emphasis on quantifying the broader impacts of the materials, methods, and technologies employed in building construction. Prof. Buccellato teaches Introduction to Building Technology, upper-level undergraduate and graduate studios, and directed studies courses related to her GreenScale Research Project, aimed at the development of a novel digital design and analysis tool to quantify the broader ecological impacts of building materials and methodologies.

Alongside this research, Prof.Buccellato works with faculty in the departments of computer science and mechanical engineering to optimize the integration of computational waste heat in the built environment (, and serves as Project Designer for the Notre Dame Linked Experimental Ecosystem Facility at St. Patrick’s County Park (ND-LEEF), part of the University’s Environmental Change Initiative (
