Conceived to establish a west coast presence for New York fashion designer
Tommy Hilfiger, this retail project now home to Brooks Brothers, is
located on the prime Beverly Hills intersection of Rodeo Drive and Little
Santa Monica Boulevard.
The
gleaming white two-story glass fiber reinforced concrete facade echoed
Tommy Hilfigers personality, “a bold yet civilized twist,”
using the language of 19th-century market architecture. A second-floor
balcony with an elaborately detailed pergola overlooks the street. With
its strong detailing and interplay of light and shadow, the building’s
monochromatic design provides interest to pedestrian and vehicular observers
both during the day and at night.
The building features large display windows and a
dramatic two-story staircase with a large skylight and cupola above.
All elements combine to reflect the owner’s desire for a strong
connection between street and exterior.
