On May 21, 2017 the School of Architecture held a diploma ceremony on the steps of Bond Hall. Martha Welborne, the Senior Vice President of Real Estate and Global Facilities for The Walt Disney Company, received an honorary doctorate of fine arts from Notre Dame during the university’s Commencement ceremony before addressing the architecture graduates. Undergraduate valedictorian, Ashley Rink, and graduate valedictorians, Alice Arnn and Gerald Bauer, also delivered remarks to the crowd of fellow graduates, friends and family.
Students continued a School of Architecture tradition by constructing structures to wear on top of their mortar boards. The Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame's Crossroads Building, and the London Bridge were among the many structures student proudly donned on during Commencement
