The Architecture Library, part of the University of Notre Dame’s Hesburgh Libraries, is located in the center of Bond Hall, home to the School of Architecture. The collection is comprised of approximately 32,000 volumes, over 80 current journals, and various other media. The Architecture Library supports the research and instructional needs of the School of Architecture’s NAAB-accredited programs including the five-year undergraduate program and its two- and three-year Master of Architecture and Master of Architectural Design and Urbanism programs.

There are three main components to the Architecture Library---the primary Architecture Library located in Bond Hall, the Rare Book Room located in the main Architecture Library, and the  Rome Architecture Reference Library located in the School of Architecture’s Rome Studies Center. In addition there are several special collections including the Furniture Collection, the Essential Texts for Students of Classical Architecture and Traditional Building, and the historic lantern slide collection available on Flickr .

The Architecture Library supports the School of Architecture and the Notre Dame community by providing a well-defined collection of materials related to the built and planned environment that includes resources on architecture, architectural history, theory, practice, building technologies, urban design and planning, landscape architecture, and environmental building practices. The main focus of the library is on classical architecture and traditional building in support of the School’s mission.  Collections in American and Italian architecture, urbanism, sacred architecture, and furniture design are also particularly strong. Non-western architecture is also collected with an emphasis on the near and far east. All time periods, geographic regions, and languages are collected but English and Italian are the primary languages of the collections.
