Summer Programs

China Program, June 20 - July 5, 2009

China Program, June 20-July 5The program, June 20 - July 5, 2009, will explore China’s past and recent practices in urban development, green architecture and environmental planning. Through the study of architectural traditions and its influence on high-quality modern urban living, the program will examine how architects and planners have responded to evolving social demands compared to their counterparts in the West. New construction also will be studied to learn how the country reflects that heritage even as it evolves.

Already one of the world’s largest economies, China is the world’s most populous nation with 1.3 billion people living on the mainland alone. This program, run in partnership with Nanjing University, explores how China’s architectural sphere has and will continue to extend across East Asia and the world at large.
