The School of Architecture encourages undergraduate students, beginning in their fourth year, to participate in one of three concentrations: Architectural Practice and Enterprise, Furniture Design, and Preservation and Restoration. The School has also partnered with the College of Science to offer Architecture students the opportunity to pursue a Minor in Sustainability. These concentrations and the Sustainability minor develop specialized skills that benefit students in the workplace and beyond.
Heather Reilly von Mering, B.Arch ’03, says, “Clients are always asking to have a piece of furniture to match their millwork. I use the construction methods [the Furniture Design Concentration] taught to me in the design and development of built-in cabinetry and other custom pieces.”
