APPLICATION
The Architecture Graduate Program welcomes applications from all persons who meet the entrance requirements and are willing to critically engage the professional and intellectual premises of the program’s emphases in traditional architecture and urbanism. Admission to the program is competitive, and financial support is generous. Applicants to the three paths (Path A, Path B and Path C) apply directly to the School of Architecture, and must complete and submit the application for admission online. (Note: This link takes applicants to the Graduate School application page. School of Architecture applicants should complete the procedures there as outlined, but all application materials and information gathered there subsequently come to the School of Architecture for evaluation.)
Due to application review, the School of Architecture is not scheduling interviews with the Director of the Program for Fall 2012 applicants, although you are welcome to visit the School.
When applying, the following documents need to be submitted as part of the regular application material:
Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
For applicants with professional office experience in architecture, at least one of the three letters of recommendation must be from a registered practicing architect.
Portfolio
All applicants must submit a portfolio of their work from academic experience, from independent projects, and/or from practice. Path C applicants without an extensive body of work should submit materials--typically copies of drawings--that indicate to the Graduate Admissions committee their potential ability to learn how to draw. The portfolio size should be a maximum 11 x 14 inches and should include reproductions, not originals.
Except for the portfolio, all application materials should be submitted online. Portfolios (with self-addressed return package and sufficient postage if return of the portfolio is desired) should be directed to:
